History of Salsa
Salsa has been a popular condiment for longer than most will realize. The history of salsa originated with the Inca people. It can also be traced to the Aztecs and Mayans. The Aztec lords used tomatoes, chilies, beans, and squash. They used salsa served on turkey, venison, and fish. The tradition was passed to later cultures in Central America and eventually in the United States. In the early 1800’s bottles, hot sauces made their appearance in Massachusetts. In 1868 Tabasco debuted it hot sauce. In 1948 Texas became the home to the first Salsa manufacturer in the United States. Salsa really became popular in the 1980s. Between 1985 and 1990 salsa sales increased almost eighty percent. Today, salsa is one of the most popular condiments! Our Recipe
