Salsa and Pico de Gallo are Similar but Not the Same
You'll find the most flavorful, savory, house-recipe salsa at Mexicali Blues as well as the tastiest pico de gallo you've ever had. Even though these two contain many of the same ingredients, they are not exactly the same thing. Our Lake of the Ozarks Mexican restaurant serves both and since many people do not realize the difference between them, today we'll try to clear that up.
Salsa
The recipes for salsa and pico de gallo can be nearly identical, but the texture and preparation are what sets these two delicious condiments apart from each other.
Salsa has more of a liquid consistency than pico de gallo, making it a perfect sauce to dip your tortilla chips in or pour over your favorite Mexican dish. Salsa is also cooked, giving it a more savory tomato flavor.
Here at Mexicali Blues, we achieve the fantastic flavor of our salsa by using only all-natural ingredients and absolutely no preservatives in our special recipe. The robust taste of Mexico comes out from the combination of zesty-flavored ingredients such as tomato, peppers, onions, garlic, and more.
Only fresh, unprocessed ingredients are used to make our amazing salsa, which is a huge reason why it tastes so darn good! As a matter of fact, so many people love it, we began bottling it so everyone could have that incredible taste at home too.
Pico de Gallo
Pico de Gallo, which can also be called salsa fresca, is made from many of the same ingredients that we use in Mexicali Blues' salsa, but in this case, they are left uncooked. The fresh ingredients are simply chopped and mixed together, leaving the mixture with much less liquid than salsa.
Pico de Gallo can be added to any of the menu items at our Mexican restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks and is already an ingredient in a few of those like our El Zapatista Burrito and Loaded Nachos. If you are looking for a really big flavor sensation, mixing some pico de gallo with our homemade salsa allows you to enjoy the best of both worlds!
Taste Great AND Good For You Too!
The ingredients that are used to create salsa and pico de gallo not only taste amazing, but they are full of wonderful health benefits too.
